Washington DC
Submitted by amandasan on Mon, 03/02/2009 - 14:56Right now, I'm in Washington DC for DrupalCon. Tomorrow, David Needham and I are volunteering and doing some pre-registration things for DrupalCon where we'll meet some fellow Drupalers even before it starts. I'm staying in a hostel with some other people who are going to DrupalCon as well, so travel shouldn't be bad.
I'm really excited to be here! The snow kind of put a damper on things, but I think it will soon pick up. I'm so glad we got here a few days early to find our way around. This is a new experience for me, but I'm glad I get to do it.
Portfolio
Submitted by amandasan on Sat, 01/24/2009 - 01:58My portfolio is taking me a lot longer than I had originally intended.. School's back in session now, and I had wanted to get it done over break. But the extra time I'm taking is going to be helpful, because I'm going to learn a lot during the process. But, that's the problem.. WHEN?!
I got rounded corners using JavaScript, but I'm still having issues with them (like I can't use any drop down menus when the code is in the page.. that's a big issue..) However, I'm finding that this is a huge step for me. (If you were in 215 with me, you know why.) Now if I can just do this on the Slane site!
David Needham invited me to present Drupal workshops with him every Saturday at 2pm in GCC. If anyone is interested, they should definitely get ahold of us. It will be a great experience for anyone wanting to know anything about Drupal.
DrupalCon
Submitted by amandasan on Fri, 01/02/2009 - 02:03I offically bought my ticket for DrupalCon yesterday! I'm really excited and can't wait to go. I hope to learn a lot about Drupal, and meet lots of new people.. and network! If you've been a frequent visitor to my site (someone in Peoria has... I know.), you've probably noticed I've redesigned this about 5 times now. Today I spent my entire day theming this from scratch, and now I am finally content with it. I'm sure it was the layout that was bothering me, and changing the colors wasn't helping that much. I just have a few more tweaks to do, then it will be completely themed. I want to get all my blocks on the right-side to be separate, and on my portfolio, I'm having a hard time making the right-side completely disappear on pages where I don't want it. However, I'm sure these are easy fixes *crosses fingers*
I hope everyone had a safe and happy new year, as well!
Coraline
Submitted by amandasan on Wed, 12/17/2008 - 17:20I found this trailer at Trailer Addict, and I wanted to share:
This movie looks very well made, and I can't wait to see it! Things like this inspire me so much!
Stop Motion
Submitted by amandasan on Tue, 12/16/2008 - 11:16I have always been a fan of stop motion animation, and I've always really wanted to try to put together a piece of my own. I found this piece from 25th Estate Film very inspirational..
This Is Where We Live from 4th Estate on Vimeo.
The use of camera angles absolutely amazes me. If you're interested, you can also take a look at how they created it here.
I plan on working on a piece in the near future. I'm not sure if I want to use real objects or do a claymation yet though. I'm just worried that if I took my time, using food, the food would rot. And using clay, the clay would dry. So, I would have to figure out ways to avoid those situations, or work fast. I think I'm going to do some stop motion tests over break.
